Preschool
worker charged after boy wanders away from school
KENNESAW,
Ga. -A Kennesaw preschool employee has been charged with
cruelty to children after a 7-year-old in her care was
found wandering alone several miles from the school.
Kennesaw police spokesman Scott Luther said the boy was
found by a Cobb County police officer around 11 a.m.
Wednesday. The child's name has not been released.
Luther said the adult in charge at Happy Days Preschool,
65-year-old Barbara Ellen Alba, was arrested and charged
with second-degree felony cruelty to children.
Luther said the boy told police that he had hopped the
fence at the school and was walking home.
Luther said that officers who went to the school saw
several children "of various ages on the playground without
adult supervision."
He said only two adults were working at the school and
neither knew the boy was missing.
